Lithuania Updates List of Approved Countries

The Lithuanian authorities have updated their list of “affected countries” to take effect on 18 August 2020.

What determines which countries will be subject to inclusion on the list is their epidemiological situation within. Within the last 14 days, if a country as a whole is experiencing greater than 16 cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 residents, they will be subject to Lithuania’s affected countries list.

There have been several countries added to the list of affected countries, including the United Kingdom, Denmark, Ireland, Greece, and Nepal.

Travelers to Lithuania who transit through any country listed as an affected country will be considered by Lithuanian authorities to have been exposed to COVID-19, with the exception to those who stop or transit through Poland.

“Persons who have returned or arrived from countries on the list of countries most affected by coronavirus infection or who have travelled through the affected countries shall be deemed to have been exposed to the virus. This does not apply when people travel by air without leaving the airport transit area or travel in transit from a country unaffected by a coronavirus infection through Poland, with essential stops only, such as refuelling, hygiene, etc., in Poland,” read the updated list announcement.

A 14-day quarantine is mandatory for anyone arriving from any of the affected countries, or anyone who has traveled through an affected country before arrival in Lithuania.

Entrants must also provide a negative COVID-19 test upon arrival in Lithuania that is no older than 72 hours.

However, some countries have been removed from the list of most affected countries.

These countries include the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe, Antigua and Barbuda, Kingdom of Lesotho, and Montserrat.

Persons arriving from countries not included on the most affected countries list will likely not need to endure a quarantine upon arrival in Lithuania.

The list of “most affected countries” will be subject to revisal weekly.
