Applying for Allianz Schengen Travel Insurance

Travellers are able to purchase Allianz Schengen Travel Insurance online via the Allianz website. Within a few minutes, a confirmation email should arrive, outlining the terms of the insurance. This email will also include the official travel insurance certificate, which can be used for a Schengen visa application.

Unlike with some other products on the market, Allianz Schengen Travel Insurance can be purchased for an entire family, with a single payment. In this event, travellers will receive a single certificate, which will outline the insurance information for all individuals who are covered by the insurance policy.

Important Coronavirus Information

It is essential that travellers to the Schengen Area follow all available guidelines related to coronavirus (COVID-19).

Allianz travel insurance products do provide coverage for medical treatment that is necessary as a result of contracting COVID-19 after arriving in the Schengen Area. This includes COVID-related medical treatments, cancellations, and covering any additional accommodation costs if it becomes necessary to quarantine and extend a trip.

Other Important Insurance Information

Allianz Allianz Schengen Travel Insurance is able to be purchased for a single trip, or as an annual policy for multiple trips to the Schengen Area. With annual coverage, each individual trip to the Schengen Area can last no longer than 90 days, and insurance coverage will begin again once a traveller re-enters the Schengen Area.

The standard insurance offers personal accident cover, as well as cover for emergency medical expenses. Travellers are advised to seek treatment from a General Practitioner (GP) for minor illness and injury and follow their advice for any follow-up treatment. Emergencies or severe illness should be treated at a hospital, or via an on-call doctor that is able to offer emergency care. Dental emergencies should be treated at a registered dental practice.

Certificates of insurance are provided in English. Standard Allianz travel insurance products provide coverage of up to US$ 50,000 for accidents, illnesses or injuries. Upgraded ‘Silver’ and ‘Gold’ packages can extend this to add coverage for lost or stolen travel documents and personal possessions.

Travellers must follow the guidance and travel advice issued by the Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). Coverage is only guaranteed if the country being visited is not subject to FCDO advice against travel.
